MI/CD Treatment There's help available for those with Mental Health problems in addition to Chemical Dependency issues.
Targeting adult men and women diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness in addition to chemical abuse or dependence problems, the MI/CD Outpatient Treatment Program has been helping improve lives since 1991. It's a joint venture between the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment and the Human Development Center in Duluth. And it's jointly staffed by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Mental Health Counselor.
The program is individually tailored to each client. However, it typically involves approximately 92 hours of therapeutic activity, spread over five or more months. Clients progress at their own pace. Generally, they proceed by stages: from evaluation to development of treatment goals, and from learning to deal appropriately with their own unique issues to developing support systems for daily living. The overall goal is to help clients achieve the best quality of life possible, cognitively, emotionally and spiritually.
Program intensity is moderate. Clients attend two three-hour Group Sessions per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and participate in individual counseling sessions as necessary. Family involvement is encouraged via the Center's Education Series or Human Development Center programming.

Men's Primary Treatment Phase I at NERCC - Saginaw The Center helps adult offenders improve their lives.
Because chemical use and abuse is so pervasive among adult offenders, the Center established
the Phase I Outpatient Treatment Program in 1984. This Center component serves adult males
serving time in the minimum security Northeast Regional Corrections Center in Saginaw,
Minnesota.
The program is individually tailored to each client via a Multi-dimensional Assessment which
aids in development of an Individual Treatment Plan. This plan, then, guides the course of
treatment, which is co-facilitated by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Corrections staff member sharen.
Typically, treatment involves approximately 94 hours of
therapeutic activity, spread over about nine weeks during the course of a client’s incarceration. Programming is fairly intense. Clients attend four three-hour groups weekly, Monday through
Thursday. These focus on how chemical use has impacted clients' lives, how clients can deal appropriately with issues
facing them and how they may point themselves in a more positive direction.
Family involvement is encouraged, with Information Sessions being conducted monthly. Clients and family members also are
referred to counseling resources in their home communities for ongoing therapy and support.
